Starting Kid-Shell
------------------
Type GO to start Kid-Shell.
Kid-Shell is a shell program used to run all of Progressive
Products kid programs. This allows your child to enter and
exit from Krazy-Christmas, Krazy-Face, Krazy-Creatures,
Krazy-Kritters, Picture-Surprise and Scrambled-Kids all by
themselves. (Note: Krazy-Christmas is distributed through
shareware and comes by itself. To receive any other
Progressive Products programs mentioned above, see the
ordering information when exiting Krazy-Christmas or call
Progressive Products for the latest selection of the finest
children's software).
If for some reason Kid-Shell does not run, try running
Krazy-Christmas directly from DOS. To do this, type kxmas.
General Commands
----------------
Controls:
The left mouse button is used to select items, the right
mouse button is used to open or close the over head menu
screens. When horizontal menu screens have more on them
than what will fit on the screen, a large arrow will appear
in a green box on the side of the menu which contains more
selections. By placing your mouse cursor over the green
arrow box, you can advance the menu in that direction.
Also, by holding down the left mouse button when the cursor
is over the green arrow box, you can speed up the scrolling
of the menu.
Music:
If you have a sound card and want to turn the music off,
simply click on the musical note icon located in the main
menu.
Starting Krazy-Christmas from Kid-Shell:
Once in Kid-Shell, click on the top icon with the picture of
the face on it. This will bring you to the main screen of
Krazy-Christmas which contains the blank face selections. From
here, you may do one of two things: select a blank face by
clinking the left mouse button on it, or click on the GO
icon at the top of the screen without selecting a face. If
you choose a blank face, a red blinking box will indicate
which selection you have made. Once a face has been chosen,
click on the GO icon to enter the paint portion of the
program. The blank face will be loaded and ready for
drawing on. If you did not choose a face then the paint
area will be white, ready to be used as a children's paint
program.
Creating Faces, Paintings and Drawings:
The paint menu contains seven icons: EXIT, FACE, STAMP PAD,
SHAPES, COLOR PALETTE, DRAWING PEN, ERASER. The function of
each icon is as follows:
EXIT: Exits you back to the main menu.
FACE: Brings up the facial features menu which contains:
eyes, noses, mouths, and eyebrows. Left click the
mouse button over a feature to select it. Once
selected the feature will track with your mouse.
Click the left mouse button in order to place the
feature onto the screen. If you want to erase a
feature you have placed on the picture, you can do
this in one of two ways. The first way is to use a
different feature than was used the first time, but it
must be in the same family of features. For example:
if you place an eye on the face and want a different
eye instead, simply grab a different eye and wave it
over the old one to make the old one vanish. You
cannot use a nose or anything else to erase an eye.
Using different features to erase old ones works as
long as you do not exit the facial features menu. If
you leave the facial features menu and re-enter it
with the same face, the features you have chosen will
not be able to be erased using the above method. You
will have to use the erase menu which is located at
the very right in the paint menu. The erase menu will
erase anything except the blank face you originally
started with.
STAMP PAD: Accesses colorful pre-made pictures to add to the
face or drawing.
SHAPES: This contains various shapes to use in the pictures.
COLOR PALETTE: This contains a large selection of colors
that can be used to fill in different areas
of the picture.
DRAWING PEN: This menu gives the artist a large selection of
colored pencils to use on his or hers picture.
ERASE: Located in the erase menu are various shaped erasers
to use on the pictures.
Exiting
-------
To leave Krazy-Christmas and return to the blank face menu,
simply click on stop and exit until you get to the save or
no save menu. Here, you will be asked to select the Gallery
(save for future display or changes) or the Garbage (not
saved). Once you have returned to the blank face menu, you
can either select another blank face or blank screen or exit
to the Kid-Shell. Upon exiting Krazy-Christmas, you will go
into an order screen which gives you all the information you
need to register Krazy-Christmas.
