  9. exit the program, you will be asked whether you would like

  24. HOW TO GET STARTED
  25. ------------------
  26. Once you have loaded all files onto your hard drive and have
  27. de-compressed them, type GO to start the program shell. From
  28. within the shell, you can run Krazy-Christmas and any future
  29. programs you obtain from Progressive Products. If you prefer
  30. to bypass the shell and run Krazy-Christmas from DOS, type Kxmas.

  45. Starting Kid-Shell
  46. ------------------
  47. Type GO to start Kid-Shell.
  48. Kid-Shell is a shell program used to run all of Progressive
  49. Products kid programs.  This allows your child to enter and
  50. exit from Krazy-Christmas, Krazy-Face, Krazy-Creatures,
  51. Krazy-Kritters, Picture-Surprise and Scrambled-Kids all by
  52. themselves. (Note: Krazy-Christmas is distributed through
  53. shareware and comes by itself.  To receive any other
  54. Progressive Products programs mentioned above, see the
  55. ordering information when exiting Krazy-Christmas or call
  56. Progressive Products for the latest selection of the finest
  57. children's software).

  59. If for some reason Kid-Shell does not run, try running
  60. Krazy-Christmas directly from DOS.  To do this, type kxmas.
  61.  
  62. General Commands
  63. ----------------
  64. Controls:
  65. The left mouse button is used to select items, the right
  66. mouse button is used to open or close the over head menu
  67. screens.  When horizontal menu screens have more on them
  68. than what will fit on the screen, a large arrow will appear
  69. in a green box on the side of the menu which contains more
  70. selections.  By placing your mouse cursor over the green
  71. arrow box, you can advance the menu in that direction.
  72. Also, by holding down the left mouse button when the cursor
  73. is over the green arrow box, you can speed up the scrolling
  74. of the menu.

  76. Music:
  77. If you have a sound card and want to turn the music off,
  78. simply click on the musical note icon located in the main
  79. menu.

  81. Starting Krazy-Christmas from Kid-Shell:
  82. Once in Kid-Shell, click on the top icon with the picture of
  83. the face on it.  This will bring you to the main screen of
  84. Krazy-Christmas which contains the blank face selections.  From
  85. here, you may do one of two things: select a blank face by
  86. clinking the left mouse button on it, or click on the GO
  87. icon at the top of the screen without selecting a face.  If
  88. you choose a blank face, a red blinking box will indicate
  89. which selection you have made.  Once a face has been chosen,
  90. click on the GO icon to enter the paint portion of the
  91. program.  The blank face will be loaded and ready for
  92. drawing on.  If you did not choose a face then the paint
  93. area will be white, ready to be used as a children's paint
  94. program.

  96. Creating Faces, Paintings and Drawings:
  97. The paint menu contains seven icons: EXIT, FACE, STAMP PAD,
  98. SHAPES, COLOR PALETTE, DRAWING PEN, ERASER.  The function of
  99. each icon is as follows:
  100.  
  101. EXIT: Exits you back to the main menu.
  102.  
  103. FACE: Brings up the facial features menu which contains:    
  104.       eyes, noses, mouths, and eyebrows.  Left click the
  105.       mouse button over a feature to select it.  Once
  106.       selected the feature will track with your mouse.
  107.       Click the left mouse button in order to place the
  108.       feature onto the screen.  If you want to erase a
  109.       feature you have placed on the picture, you can do
  110.       this in one of two ways.  The first way is to use a
  111.       different feature than was used the first time, but it
  112.       must be in the same family of features.  For example:
  113.       if you place an eye on the face and want a different
  114.       eye instead, simply grab a different eye and wave it
  115.       over the old one to make the old one vanish.  You
  116.       cannot use a nose or anything else to erase an eye.
  117.       Using different features to erase old ones works as
  118.       long as you do not exit the facial features menu.  If
  119.       you leave the facial features menu and re-enter it
  120.       with the same face, the features you have chosen will
  121.       not be able to be erased using the above method.  You
  122.       will have to use the erase menu which is located at
  123.       the very right in the paint menu.  The erase menu will
  124.       erase anything except the blank face you originally
  125.       started with.

  127. STAMP PAD: Accesses colorful pre-made pictures to add to the
  128.            face or drawing.
  129.  
  130. SHAPES: This contains various shapes to use in the pictures.

  132. COLOR PALETTE: This contains a large selection of colors
  133.                that can be used to fill in different areas
  134.                of the picture.
  135.  
  136. DRAWING PEN: This menu gives the artist a large selection of
  137.              colored pencils to use on his or hers picture.
  138.  
  139. ERASE: Located in the erase menu are various shaped erasers
  140.        to use on the pictures.

  142. Exiting
  143. -------
  144. To leave Krazy-Christmas and return to the blank face menu,
  145. simply click on stop and exit until you get to the save or
  146. no save menu.  Here, you will be asked to select the Gallery
  147. (save for future display or changes) or the Garbage (not
  148. saved).  Once you have returned to the blank face menu, you
  149. can either select another blank face or blank screen or exit
  150. to the Kid-Shell.  Upon exiting Krazy-Christmas, you will go
  151. into an order screen which gives you all the information you
  152. need to register Krazy-Christmas.

  156. There is both telephone and mail support for registered users of Krazy-Christmas.
  157. Once you have registered this product, Questions or problems with the software
  158. will be answered or fixed for the first year at no charge. After the first year,
